Sports and Exercise Across the Human Lifespan

The role of sports and exercise evolves across different stages of life, yet its importance remains constant. Physical activity supports growth, maintenance, and preservation of bodily function from childhood through old age.


In childhood and adolescence, sports promote healthy growth, motor skill development, and bone density formation. Participation in physical activities at an early age also establishes lifelong habits and positive attitudes toward health.
